About TBI Kansas

TBI Kansas represents the efforts of the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services (SRS) and the Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) Advisory Board to provide information to individuals with TBI, their family members and significant others, and the professionals who serve them. TBI Kansas promotes the development of a coordinated, statewide network that supports Kansans with TBI as effectively and efficiently as possible. In addition, TBI Kansas seeks to educate the general public about TBI, including its impact on individuals and the greater community and ways to prevent its occurrence. Ultimately, TBI Kansas supports the vision of a state where the incidence of TBI is minimal and its citizens with TBI participate as fully as possible as valued and respected members of their communities.

SRS is the administrative agency responsible for setting policy for programs that deliver an array of health care services to eligible Kansans. SRS is the lead agency for many TBI-specific initiatives in the state that are implemented through TBI Kansas. These efforts include education programs for professionals and the state’s TBI Medicaid Waiver Program.

The TBI Advisory Board was established in 2001 to identify and address the needs of Kansans with Traumatic Brain Injury and their families. The members of the Advisory Board come from various geographic locations around the state. They represent individuals with brain injury, family members, advocacy organizations, service providers, and state agencies.
